Routine and Complex Cataract Surgery in Adults and Children

Dr Kini performs cataract surgery which involves removing the cataractous lens and implanting an artificial lens in the eye.

Ophthalmologists complete many years of training in cataract surgery to become qualified cataract surgeons.

A cataract is a clouding up of the natural lens in the eye.

Dr Kini is further skilled in complex cataract surgery, and is involved in the training of the Advanced Cataract Fellow at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

Ocular conditions in babies and children are best managed by a fellowship trained paediatric ophthalmologist like Dr Kini.

These conditions include turned eyes (squint), watery eyes, lazy eye (Amblyopia), cataracts and short sightedness.

His expertise allows him to understand the unique visual needs of young patients and to use communication techniques that create a comfortable treatment environment to make them feel at ease.

Strabismus

Dr Kini offers squint surgery for children and adults, and is well versed in adjustable squint surgery for adults.

Strabismus, turned eyes or squints can affect children and adults. In adults, these can cause double vision, which is a significant impairment.

Surgery for squints is a highly specialised branch of Ophthalmology, and in adults, can be done with adjustable sutures, to allow for early post operative manipulation for an optimal outcome.

Dr Kini is involved in training the Ocular Motility Fellow in squint surgery at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital.

Dr Kini has completed a dedicated fellowship in Neuro ophthalmology at Leicester Royal Infirmary in the UK, and is available to diagnose and manage most Neuro ophthalmic conditions.

Neuro ophthalmology is a branch of ophthalmology that deals with the complex interactions of the nervous system and brain with the eyes, affecting vision and eye movements.

Neuro ophthalmologists are ophthalmologists or neurologists with further training in the diagnosis and management of these complex conditions.
